23/07/23 – QWW Open Weekend

Thanks to everyone who put the work ing to our open weekend and to all those who visited and took photos of the Test Car’s runs out of the line. The team had an excellent weekend, despite the awful weather on Saturday.

Hello everyone and welcome to the update after our open weekend. We had a good weekend despite the awful weather on Saturday. Thank you to everyone for the work put into make the event a success. It was great to see so many people visit us and to see the Test Car out and about the line behind the Heavy Tractor Group’s 37714.

Dave and Richard spent some time getting some props sorted for the looming Railways at Work gala and going along with the shunts for our event.

We also had a new arrival this week, a 3rd Esso tank wagon, 3777. Initial impressions of this are that it is quite solid, this got a wash and brush up on the Sunday when the weather allowed it.

To finish off this update, I’ll put up some pictures from the Open Weekend. Thank you again for all those who came to see our wagons and us. Next weekend should see some more work done on the Pipe wagon weather dependant, if not, I’m sure we’ll find something to do. Join us then!

  1. Hi Ross and Co.

Thanks for the pictures on what looks like a good weekend’s tribute to the work that you do week in and week out.

Who knows, you might end up with a complete Esso set if they keep arriving.

Pleased to hear that in spite of the weather on Satyurday you have a goodly number of visitors.

One of these days there will be a weekend when it will be possible to visit. This is normally manmaged at Sants time but SWMBO says that at 81 its about time that I have it up … we will see but these days we have become 24 hour carers for a BiL in our abode.

Anuway keep up the good work and continue to send the bulletins and one day it will happen and a visit will be made )minus SWMBO as lack of mobility is a frustrating problem for her.

Best wishes to you all and thanks for the. work you do as Great Central Railway volunteers.

    Cheers, Peter BB
